Dorothy L. (neé Quigan), 93, of Dumont, died peacefully on Friday, May 12, 2017 at Care One of Cresskill.  Predeceased by her beloved husband, Karl S. (2002).  Devoted mother of Raymond and his wife Judith, Alan and his wife Regina and Eric and his wife Cheryl.  A great joy in Dorothy’s life were her cherished grandchildren; Jennifer, Erika, Jeffrey, Tracey, Jessica and Stephanie, and great-grandchildren; Lorelei, Ethan, Brandon and Chad.  Also predeceased by her great-grandson, Derek and her siblings; Florence, Robert, Marjorie and Donald.

 

Dorothy was born in Queens, NY.  She devoted her life to raising her family and was quite active throughout the community.  Dorothy was very artistic and was chairman of Arts & Crafts at the Dumont Woman’s Club and  volunteered at the Friends of the Dixon Homestead Library of Dumont, and was a long-standing member of Old North Reformed Church of Dumont. 

 

Family and friends are welcome to celebrate Dorothy’s life at the Frech-McKnight Funeral Home, 161 Washington Avenue, Dumont, on Monday beginning at 4 PM and concluding at 8 PM. A Funeral Service will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, 11 AM.  Cremation is private.  As an expression of sympathy, contributions may be made in Dorothy’s memory to the Old North Reformed Church, 120 Washington Avenue or to the Dumont Volunteer Ambulance Corps, 108 Brook Street.
