BIOGRAPHY

John T. Wright, 59, of Holiday City, Berkeley, Toms River, NJ, formerly of Jersey City and Dumont, passed away at his home with his brother at his side on August 22, 2017.  John was predeceased by his parents, Rita (nee Clancy) and Leslie, and his brother, Gregory.  He is survived by his brother, Alan, dear aunts, Sarah Moore of Rio Rancho, N.M. and Susan and her husband Ernest Sigyarto of Bothell, WA and their families, treasured cousins, Frances and her children; Christina and Louis Jr. and Catherine and her husband, Michael, all of Ridgewood, NJ.  He also leaves behind a long list of treasured friends who he was so fortunate to have in his life, and he in theirs.

 

John was born and raised in Dumont, a 1976 graduate of Dumont H.S.  He served in the U.S. Navy and was awarded the Sailor of the Quarter Honor when stationed in Iceland, was a member of the Dumont Borough Council, and went on to a distinguished teaching career at Dickinson H.S. in Jersey City.

 

John and his family would like to express their sincerest appreciation to all those at Hackensack University Medical Center’s, John Theurer Cancer Center, specifically Dr. Robert Alter and his wonderful staff, for their expert and compassionate care and dedication which kept John’s extraordinary spirit in this world for many years.

 

Visiting Friday 10 – 11 AM, with a Catholic Blessing at 11 AM, at the Frech-McKnight Funeral Home, 161 Washington Ave., Dumont.  Burial to follow at St. Andrew’s Cemetery, River Vale, where he will be laid to rest next to his mother and father.  In lieu of flowers, any donation to the John Theurer Cancer Center, C/O Hackensack University Medical Center Foundation, 160 Essex St., Ste. 101, Lodi, NJ 07644 would be appreciated.  Go Navy, beat Army.
